We are all born with innate abilities that at some point in our lives present themselves; what we do with them is up to us. I was born with the knowledge of how color, texture, balance and proportion can work together to make beautiful and interesting spaces. I have trusted my special abilities in Design through-out my life's work: starting with a complete remodel of the Women's Clinic that I worked at in the 70's as well as my two homes and homes of my friends and colleagues. In 1981 I moved to Napa Valley where I integrated my wine knowledge and Design skills to help smaller Vintners have a Tasting Room to showcase their product. Ten years later found me back in Mendocino specializing in seasonal retail Design for Fetzer Vineyards which led me back into small Tasting Room Design and staff Management in the Anderson Valley; which segued into the Business and Design Plan for a three winery Tasting Room at the east end of the Valley. For the past eight years I have focused on Design Renovations in Humboldt County. I have been very successful doing Renovations for Resale: helping clients fix up their homes using my Trade Discounts to assure a return on their investment even with the recession.
I continue to educate myself by attending seminars, clinics as well as classes to make sure the end result is something I can be proud of and my client loves. I stay informed and constantly source new green techniques and materials. I believe new innovative techniques with a bit of the traditional creates the most unique and timeless Spaces.

I always decorate the walls to the ceiling when I have a slanted or high ceilings to work with. Adding art, lighting and other elements creates a cohesive and complete feel to the room, utilizing space that is often ignored.

Tip, If you have old carpet, get rid of it and do not replace it with new carpet unless you know how it's made. Carpet off gasses for up to five years after installation; things like formaldehyde and ethanol: not to mention old carpet with all the wonderful things that have been tracked in over the years. Old and new non-organic carpet is my biggest concern for my clients.
Tip, The interior of your home should reflect the style of the build. Hollywood Regency Design and furnishings in a Craftsman Style Home just doesn't work for me. I'm not saying you can't mix in a few pieces here and there, it's all about balance and that's what I can do for you.
Tip If you're own a tight budget choose dark etched/chiseled laminate flooring. It will look richer and more like hardwood.
If are considering hiring me my first visit will be a consultation. I do a walk through alone; taking pictures and first impression notes. You tell me what you hope to achieve: any ideas you may have about getting there, your likes and dislikes and your budget. I like to have a general idea of what I will be working with so I can formulate the Design with a figure in mind. If you hire me I will then create a Project Board: a canvas with the color, materials and elements I recommend for the renovation. I see spaces done as pictures in my head and the Project Board allows me to show you what that picture looks like. I will also provide you with a cost breakdown for the materials for the Project as I see it. It can stop there and you use the Project Board as you will or we continue and I will do all the material ordering and use my Trade Discounts to save you between 20 and 50% on all materials: appliances, furniture, plumbing, lighting, everything that is purchased I will pass the savings directly to you. This is a huge benefit; the larger the renovation the more you will save. I have built great relationships with local craftsman and contractors and can provide qualified and caring workers to do the labor if needed. On large jobs that require sub-contractors as well as other labor I will Project manage: it assures that the time-line and budget stay as close to planned as possible. There may be changes to the initial plan and it will be my responsibility to keep you informed of any problems or issues that need to be addressed to continue and bring the job to fruition.
